Baby Care-My baby is sick

Most mums feel worry when the baby sick, so do I. Three times already in 3 months and 12 days.

The first was diarrhea; he was poo right after being fed, so poor. He looked completely ok, he still smile and active. Not the mum…..Huhuhuhu My tips for mums are make sure everything sterilized before use, especially if the baby drinks from the bottle. Washing hands after changing his diapers also important. Encourage to whoever wants to touch your baby to wash their hands first by giving example by yourself.

The next is fever….this is absolutely my fault, I go to my office bringing him with me without facility in my office, the nanny just carried him until he fell asleep, but he didn’t really sleep actually. In my spare day, I brought him with me everywhere I go. The last was we went to Christmas Eve service until 9pm. I didn’t listen to my cousin’s advice not to bring the baby out to often before 6 months.

It happened in the middle at night, he couldn’t really sleep, just rolled right or left. I thought he was thirsty so I woke him up, when I carry him, his body was hot and he started crying so loud. I was panic!!!! I measured his body temp. It was 38.4 Celsius. I changed him with thin clothes and short. I took a bowl of water and towel to be put on his forehead. I fed him with milk more often, so he’ll pee and the hot gone. I also gave him aspirin drops for baby. My tips for mums, don’t be as panic as I was, panic just made everything went slower to do because you just confuse. Doing what I did above so helpful. Don’t put blanket over his body. Try to make him sleep so his body can be refreshed. If the body temp. not going down, don’t take any risk just go to the doctor.

Now he got cold! It’s not funny to see a baby with runny nose. He couldn’t even blow his nose. I just make him sleep. Because the prescription for cold is eat a lot and sleep all the time! I just bought Chinese medicine…haven’t tried this, hopefully it does help. I just don’t like my baby eat a lot of chemical things. My tips for mums are stay everybody who got flu away from your baby. Try not to touch your baby. Cover their mouth with disposal face mask.

Baby’s sleeping pattern

The wonderful thing about having a baby is you’ll find something new every day. Problems or I can say challenges to prove you as a great mum Hahahaha- come and go. My worst night happened in 1,5 months. My dear boy woke me up every 2 hours to get drink; unfortunately he didn’t want to sleep straight away!!!! Then that’s our job as sweet mum to comfort him. What make me so stressful is I need another 1-2 hours to make him fall asleep.

I asked my pedi how to get him into routine; he said feed him starting from 6 o’clock and then you wake your baby up every 2 hours until 6 times after that it’s up to your baby, whether he wants more or not. That’s not a good idea for my son… really, it just didn’t work for the two of us.

I read articles and asked my expert friends, they said actually baby will cry when they hungry, that’s it. No worries of how many cc he has drunk that day! I love that idea, we both love it!

Still he woke up at night, I’ve tried many methods, trust me!!!! I carried him around our bedroom plus singing for him…….not working. I sat on the bed carrying him and when he fell asleep I put him on the bed and he cried again à so stressful!!!! I’ve tried to make him awakes until 9pm what I got was he has bad tempered!!!! Finally after the stress, after feeding him, burping him and then I put him on his bed straight away and it works!!!! Don't talk at all, keep silent and show him your sleepy face. That simple!!!! But I believe it is because his age as well.

My tips for mums are sleep while your baby sleeping in the morning or in the afternoon, if you can’t sleep just lying down on your bed and try to relax. While carrying your baby, do your hobby, e.g. I read a novel when I carry him or I read something when I wait next to his bed make sure he sleeps already. Think creatively what you can do when you carrying your baby, but do not make a phone call from your hand phone, experts said the radiation affect your baby.

Breastfeeding Challenge

My business during pregnancy….I was so busy, really…..around 1 weeks before the due I just asked for my maternity leave, so I could take a rest but on Sunday before I even had my maternity leave started, the baby was born already.

I don’t read heaps of article or anything else for welcoming the baby, this is what I regretted but now I look forward and see what I can do. That’s the big WHY I make this blog so I can share practical tips I’ve experienced as an amateur mum…..

Here, where I live now……the hospital staff didn’t insist us to breastfeed our baby soon after being delivered. After several hours (thank God it was only 4hours- 12.30-4.30am) struggling with the baby. They maybe saw that no drops of milk from my breast and they asked me what brand of formula I wanted to give to the baby. PLEASE! I felt so tired and I didn’t know the best formula milk ever! I’m a new mum! Finally they decided for me and after couple of days I know mine is one of the best formula.

They brought my baby twice a day and asked me to try breastfeeding him….but in other side I have a lot of visitors and I didn’t feel comfortable to breastfeeding my son. I still also felt exhausted. Currently, after reading articles I just knew that baby can survive without any milk until 2 days because mum naturally has put enough food inside the baby’s tummy.

My tips for mums are TELL the doctor and the nurse that you want to breastfeed your baby badly so they will show their support. Stay the visitors away so you have private time with the baby. Don’t give up! Ever! Positive thinking and be confident! Drink more, eat a lot of nutritious food! Ask someone to handle the household job, so you can focus to your baby, take a rest. Sleep proved to increase the breast milk. Having your family to help will be a great advantage to reduce stress.

If the milk won’t let down, just like me. Start to pump by the time you back home. Do not wait or feel hopeless. I started very late, which is after 3 weeks. I started by making commitment to myself that I WANT TO GIVE ONLY THE BEST FOR THE BABY. I started with 5 cc in 10 minutes and then 10cc in 20 minutes….I shouted when I can get 60cc in 40minutes and now I can have 100 cc in 10 minutes. Jot down in your book how much you can get every day so you will know the significant progress you’ve achieved. The main thing is NEVER GIVE UP and PRAY!

I mixed it with formula milk for around 1 month and after that free of formula. You will proud of yourself later on. I’m gonna attach article of the advantages of breastfeeding for mums and babies.
