Cold or allergic

After the pediatrician in Jakarta, my baby still have runny nose! We decided to stop all the medicine, the doctor suggested giving him antibiotic, but we won’t do it! We will bring him to our personal pedi. In Bandung who handles our baby since he was 1 week.

Got the degree in Germany absolutely not a guarantee! He didn’t even show interest to the baby’s health history. I’ve talked to the doctor that he also have allergic to dust, softener, spray, air conditioner, etc (we don’t know yet). He didn’t pay attention and for me he didn’t examine the boy carefully.

Our personal pedi in Bandung, no matter how busy he is, how crowded the patient is always examine the patients super carefully! From head to toe…indeed! He stated confidently that our baby not getting cold but allergic! So……he took wrong medicine for some vain days!

Now…he is very much better! My tips for mum are….find a permanent pedi. for your baby who can depended on. Having another ped. for second opinion is fine. If you not sure with the diagnoses, find another doctor and make sure you tell the doctor about your baby’s health history! If one of the parents get allergic to something or whatever, mostly the kid get it too, he probably get allergic to different thing than us.

baby cold attack-medicine

It's been 5 days my dear baby boy has runny nose. Poor little boy, he hasn't master nose blowing skills yet, not until 4 (experts said so, not me!)

I read articles about this and most writers said no medicine until 7-10 days. Sometimes, we worry too much, aren't we? and also no Chinese medicine, but i gave it (advice from elders). It doesn't cure him as fast as I hope, but he gradually getting better, not really to be honest huhuhuhu

I gave up! My parents insisted me to go to the doctor because the mucus seemed so annoying for him. Yesterday, we went to the doctor. He wrote antibiotic on the prescription but I said that I don't want to give my baby antibiotic....and the doctor finally said that after 3 days not cured yet, then start giving him the antibiotic.

At this point, I really appreciate that doctor, he has willingness to listen to his patient humbly. Not all the doctor do this right? and I learned that we, as parents have rights to state our opinions, not only nodding our head.

About the Chinese medicine, I also asked the doctor, it didn't cure the illness only maintain the body.

After the medicine taken, he's getting better, thank God! About the medicine, there is a safe medicine to liquid the mucus, kind a nasal drops, sorry to mention the brand, it's Breathy. So the baby can sleep better. My tips for mums are wait until +/- 1 week to bring him to the doctor, but if the mucus turn green, bring him to the doctor ASAP. Sometimes decision to bring him to the doctor is depend on the parents' wisdom hahahaha Stay at home and feed him more often also help. Carry and comfort him if he can't breath well. Make a roll from tissue and roll it in front of his nose when the mucus pop up or make a cone from tissue to clean his nose. Spread ointment oil on his tummy to make him warm also help.

Baby Care-My baby is sick

Most mums feel worry when the baby sick, so do I. Three times already in 3 months and 12 days.

The first was diarrhea; he was poo right after being fed, so poor. He looked completely ok, he still smile and active. Not the mum…..Huhuhuhu My tips for mums are make sure everything sterilized before use, especially if the baby drinks from the bottle. Washing hands after changing his diapers also important. Encourage to whoever wants to touch your baby to wash their hands first by giving example by yourself.

The next is fever….this is absolutely my fault, I go to my office bringing him with me without facility in my office, the nanny just carried him until he fell asleep, but he didn’t really sleep actually. In my spare day, I brought him with me everywhere I go. The last was we went to Christmas Eve service until 9pm. I didn’t listen to my cousin’s advice not to bring the baby out to often before 6 months.

It happened in the middle at night, he couldn’t really sleep, just rolled right or left. I thought he was thirsty so I woke him up, when I carry him, his body was hot and he started crying so loud. I was panic!!!! I measured his body temp. It was 38.4 Celsius. I changed him with thin clothes and short. I took a bowl of water and towel to be put on his forehead. I fed him with milk more often, so he’ll pee and the hot gone. I also gave him aspirin drops for baby. My tips for mums, don’t be as panic as I was, panic just made everything went slower to do because you just confuse. Doing what I did above so helpful. Don’t put blanket over his body. Try to make him sleep so his body can be refreshed. If the body temp. not going down, don’t take any risk just go to the doctor.

Now he got cold! It’s not funny to see a baby with runny nose. He couldn’t even blow his nose. I just make him sleep. Because the prescription for cold is eat a lot and sleep all the time! I just bought Chinese medicine…haven’t tried this, hopefully it does help. I just don’t like my baby eat a lot of chemical things. My tips for mums are stay everybody who got flu away from your baby. Try not to touch your baby. Cover their mouth with disposal face mask.
